Join us for a hands-on workshop for high school and college instructors interested in bringing authentic astronomical data into the classroom. Participants will explore two complimentary classroom-ready activities based on landmark sky surveys—the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST)—with a focus on stellar science.
The workshop will guide you through using these lessons, supported by online teacher guides that include background content, learning outcomes, and standards alignment. You’ll also learn how to access additional SDSS and LSST educational resources spanning a wide range of astronomy topics.

Each participant will receive an SDSS plate* as a special takeaway. Certificates of participation for 3.5 hours of professional development are available from Rubin Observatory. Whether you’re new to teaching astronomy or looking to refresh your curriculum, this in-person workshop offers practical tools, content knowledge, and inspiration for your classroom.
* while supplies last. One plate per institution. Plates will be distributed based on order of registration. You must attend the workshop in order to receive the plate.
There is no cost to attend this workshop.
